{254}dance-festival will give pre-professional and professional dancers the opportunity to showcase their choreographic works.

Participate in Artist Q and A from other presenting artists and the dance community. Everyone is welcome to join in this session to learn more about contemporary dance.

The second annual contemporary dance festival will be held at Waco Convention Center, Brazos Room, 100 Washington Avenue, Waco, Texas.

L. Brooke Schlecte is the founder and Artistic Director of Out On a Limb Dance Company. Mrs. Schlecte states that the {254}dance-festival has the unique opportunity prepare a new exciting stomping ground for Professional Modern Dance right here in the Heart of Texas! There is a rich history and support of art here in Waco but the educational and professional development opportunities for professional dancers studying contemporary dance and traditional forms are limited. {254} dance-festival is a way to bring folks from all over the country to our city and host a premiere festival for the dance field. We have choreographers submitting works from Romania, Indiana, Oklahoma, Lubbock, Houston, Dallas, Austin, and Waco! This show is filled with new ideas, frenetic energy, peaceful unity, moving space, innovative structures, traditional ideas, out of the box proposals, impressive performances and cutting edge choreography.

{254}-Dance-Festival’s mission strives to bring professional and pre-professional contemporary movement ideas to Central Texas. We seek artists pushing the limits of dance while also exploring dance traditions. We would like to provide the audience with current dance making ideas in movement, performance, choreography and collaboration that one cannot find in popular culture.

{254}-Dance-Festival is facilitated through Waco Cultural Arts Fest and Out On a Limb Dance Company. Both entities are excited about setting a stage for professional contemporary dance in Waco, bringing artists in and challenging local artists to participate and collaborate in the process.
